Rock en español es la música rock compuesta e interpretada en castellano. A diferencia del rock en inglés, el rock en español ha logrado tener éxito mundial en pocas ocasiones, y muchas veces ni siquiera entre países de habla hispana. Por eso el rock en castellano se ha desarrollado de manera heterogénea en las distintas naciones hispanohablantes; quedando así la música de muchas bandas para uso casi exclusivamente nacional hasta la llegada de la globalización de contenidos multimedia acentuada por la generalización de internet y desarrollada especialmente en el siglo XXI.
Midtown fue una banda de New Brunswick, New Jersey (EEUU) de pop punk y rock alternativo. Fue fundada en noviembre de 1998 por tres estudiantes de la universidad de Rutgers, aunque no tardaron en convertirse en un cuarteto. Se aprovecharon de la fertil escuela punk de New Jersey y conbinandolo con elementos Punk Rock, comenzaron a grabar poco después de su fundación. Sus miembros eran: Gabe Saporta - Voz/Bajo Tyler Rann - Coros/Guitarra Heath Saraceno - Coros/Guitarra Rob Hitt - Bateria
Actualmente se separaron y Gabe Saporta formó Cobra Starship; Heath Saraceno se marchó a la banda Senses Fail y tiene además, junto a Dan Trapp (baterista de Senses Fail), un proyecto paralelo llamado The Jettonnes; Rob Hitt fundó un sello discográfico llamado I Surrender Records y Tyler Rann ingresó en Band Of Thieves.
