El metal es un estilo de música basado en sonidos fuertes y poderosos que inspiran al que los oye, generalmente un sentimiento de enojo, ira, odio que usualmente son dirigidos hacia la sociedad donde vivimos, la vida diaria, el sistema político en algunos casos, en otros podemos encontrar temáticas que van desde religión, satanismo, muerte, sexo, violencia, soledad, melancolía. El metal tiene diversas formas y estilos, que van desde rápido pero no tan gutural, hasta el punto muy rápido y muy gutural. Los estilos son muy variados, y cada cual tiene sus ritmos, sonidos y temáticas respectivas.
Within Temptation es un grupo holandés, formado en Waddinxveen, Países Bajos en 1996 por Sharon den Adel y Robert Westerholt.
Tan sólo dos meses después de su lanzamiento al mundo firmaron un contrato con DSFA Records. En abril del siguiente año, publicaron su primer álbum, "Enter", un album perteneciente al Doom Metal.En el año 1998 publicaron su primer EP, "The Dance", que sigue la linea de su anterior album pero con un sonido mas gótico y enérgico que les llevaría a festivales punteros europeos como el Dynamo (tocando en el escenario principal en el año 98)
