El termino K-pop surge por el movimiento de la cultura joven y (K) de Korean (Coreano en ingles); en resumen es la abreviatura de Korean Pop o Pop Coreano. Es un género de música que tuvo sus orígenes especialmente en Corea del Sur ya que prácticamente no hay una industria de música popular en Corea del Norte. Ya que Corea del Norte tiene un estricto régimen de gobierno comunista, por lo que las relaciones con Corea del Sur son muy pocas, así que cuando se habla de cantantes coreanos se da como sobrentendido que se habla de Corea del Sur.
Super Junior en coreano 슈퍼주니어 o simplemente SuJu para abreviar, es un grupo de 13 miembros, de la empresa coreana SM Entertainment, quien vio la luz el 6 de noviembre del 2005 con solo 12 miembros, revelando su primer single Twins. Los primeros 12 miembros fueron (De mayor a menor); Lee Teuk (El lider), Hee Chul, Han Kyung, Ye Sung, Kang In, Shin Dong, Sung Min, Eun Hyuk, Dong Hae, Si Won, Ryeo Wook, y Ki Bum. Luego el 23 de Mayo del 2006 SM formó la integración del integrante número 13; Cho Kyu Hyun, el menor del grupo en edad.
Al principio, iba a ser solamente un proyecto para 2005, por eso, en su debut, sacaron su primer álbum como 'Super Junior 05'. Pero, viendo el gran éxito que tuvieron, acabaron por convertirse en 'Super Junior' y durar más de 6 años como uno de los grupos idol más conocidos de Corea del Sur.
