El hip hop es un género musical que incluye golpes rítmicos que acompañan a una voz principal que rapea. Este es un género musical muy popular y uno de los principales componentes de lo que es considerado como la cultura hip hop. Llegó a la fama con el single Crank That (Soulja Boy), tema que alcanzó el número 1 de Hot 100. El single ha sido publicado inicialmiente en la internet, y se tornó el hit número 1 en los EUA por siete semanas no-consecutivas, empezando en septiembre de 2007.
