El hip hop es un género musical que incluye golpes rítmicos que acompañan a una voz principal que rapea. Este es un género musical muy popular y uno de los principales componentes de lo que es considerado como la cultura hip hop. Muchos espectáculos instrumentales en los que se presentan DJs sin apoyo vocal, también son abarcados bajo el género de la música hip hop. Esto se ha vuelto más popular dado que las técnicas de mezclado y sampleo (o muestreo) han madurado en los últimos años.
Hay varios artistas con este nombre. 1. Armando Christian Pérez (Miami, Forida, Estados Unidos, 15 de enero de 1981) Sus padres, pertenecientes a la primera generación de inmigrantes cubanos en Miami, se ocupan de que su hijo no pierda sus raíces. Entre otros recursos, le acercan a su hijo las obras del poeta cubano José Martí, y Pitbull toma conciencia del poder de las palabras. Sus orígenes hacen sentir a Pitbull muy cercano al rap latino que invade las radios de Miami. Las principales influencias del artista son Poison Clan y Luther Campbell.
Sus comienzos musicales los realiza participando de distintos compilados, un recurso casi obligado para los artistas de este estilo. Después de algunos pasos en falso, Luther Campbell lo llama luego de haber escuchado sus grabaciones, para que participe en su tema Lollipop. Tal como mandan las reglas del buen productor, los hermanos Díaz escuchan su participación con Campbell y proponen a Pitbull trabajar con el rey del rap latino, Lil Jon. El álbum Kings Of Crunk , lanzado en 2002, alcanza el status de Disco de Platino y su participación con el tema Oye es editada también el soundtrack de la película 2 Fast 2 Fourious en 2003.
