La música electrónica de baile, EDM (por sus siglas en inglés electronic dance music), música club, música dance, o simplemente dance, es un conjunto de géneros de música electrónica, como el house, techno, trance, eurodance, italo-disco, dance pop, entre otros. Orientada principalmente al baile, se caracteriza por estar realizada con sonidos sintéticos y organicos pre-grabados en un estudio, y por sus ritmos bien marcados y repetitivos y con letras pegadizas, pudiendo incorporar voces o ser música instrumental.
Milli Vanilli fue un dúo compuesto por Fab Morvan (14 de mayo 1966) y Rob Pilatus (8 de junio de 1965 - 2 de abril de 1998) que se formó en Alemania a mediados de los 80. En un principio, ambos integrantes eran bailarines acompañantes de Sabrina Salerno. El productor germano Frank Farian se fijo en ellos y lanzó su carrera como grupo musical. Entre sus éxitos cabe señalar "Girl you know it's true", editada en 1988.
En 1990 se les concedió el Premio Grammy al mejor nuevo artista, pero poco después, en noviembre de ese mismo año se descubrió que en realidad Fab y Rob no eran los que cantaban: la implicación de ambos con su música se limitó a aparecer en la cubierta de los discos. Su música estaba pregrabada en sus vídeos musicales y sus conciertos. El escándalo provocado por este descubrimiento hizo caer en el olvido al grupo.
