Se conoce como bachata a un género de música popular que nació en la República Dominicana y luego se expandió a numerosos países. La bachata combina merengue, son, bolero y otros estilos. Para la interpretación de bachata se utilizan instrumentos musicales como la güira (un idiófono), el bongó (membranófono), la guitarra y el bajo. Gracias a su ritmo, se considera que la bachata es un género bailable.
Joe, cuyo nombre completo es Joseph Lewis Thomas, nació el 05 de Julio de 1972 en Columbus, Georgia. Ha sido nominado 7 veces al Grammy como cantante o productor de R&B. Interpreta el R&B de manera suave y cálida, agregando beats de Hip-Hop, Joe posee una amplia base de música Gospel, de la que produce álbumes y hasta se ha permitido cantar en ellos.
Nativo de Georgia, Joe vivió de niño en Opelika, Alabama, siguiendo a sus padres, 2 predicadores. Fue su abuela quien le enseño a cantar en la iglesia, a tocar la guitarra y a dirigir los coros. Muy joven fue influenciado por estrellas del Gospel como The Winans, Commissioned y Vanessa Bell Armstrong. Además, tuvo como ídolos a Stevie Wonder y Marvin Gaye, así como los más contemporáneos Bobby Brown y Keith Sweat.
