I tried to wait until the perfect moment
To let her know that I'd be going
And to break it to her the best I could
She sat there in a stony silence
I got the feeling she was feeling like I was
But I wasn't feeling like I thought I would

It was hard enough to find the nerve to tell her
And even harder yet to face her eye to eye
But the thing that hurt the most
Was the tears never fell
The hardest part about leaving her
Was she took it too well

I was leaving something that was already gone
I was a fool guess I should've known
That something else was going on
I just know things could have been better
And I was hoping leaving might put it together
But I guess I waited way too long
