Travelin thru America
Seeing things I always thought I'd see
I never really felt at home
I had to find the road to comfort me
Cincinnati came pretty close
Holding my attention for a while
I had dreams of night life fast and wild
A New York scene, a little more my style
But it wasn't long before I felt like everyone was in a pointless race
I never wanted to win, I just wanted to run

So I moved off to a less familiar place
Nashville Tennessee I met the woman of my dreams
I got a record deal and I live with her for while
But one night she told me that she had dreams of nightlife fast and wild
And New York City seems a little more her style

I couldn't stay behind without her there
And I had had my share of New York too
But I knew how bad she needed to go
There was only one thing left to do

All my life, I've traveled through those county roads
The streets of those old towns
Please don't ever ask me what I've learned
Whatever I thought I'd find, I never found

I don't feel at home, I just feel alone
But I think I still believe that love is real
If you see her in Manhattan she'll say, "He's never coming back, or so it seems"
